The case for audio

Why a podcast, and how we make it work.

Your audience already lives on demand. A podcast is the on-demand version of the oldest marketing asset there is: a voice they trust. Here is the honest case for making one, and the system we run to make sure it works.

Attention you can't buy

A skippable ad gets you five seconds. A social post gets a thumb-flick. A podcast listener chooses you, presses play when they can actually pay attention, and stays for half an hour. In the car, on the run, on the commute. No other channel gets invited in like that.

The voice in their head

Audio is intimate in a way no other format touches. When someone listens on headphones, you are quite literally the voice in their head. That's why podcast audiences act on what they hear at rates display advertising can't approach.

Trust takes hours, and podcasts compress them

Buyers spend hours with a brand before they trust it enough to buy. Stacking that time out of six-second ads and skimmed posts takes forever. A series of thirty-minute episodes gets you there in one season. Uninterrupted, on a feed you fully control, with no competitor's ad running in the middle of your message.

Why most brand podcasts fail (and how not to)

They fail for the same four reasons: no strategy beyond "we should have one", audio quality that quietly tells listeners you don't care, an unsustainable production burden on someone's evenings, and no distribution plan at all. The POD System exists because we watched this happen from inside the industry. Plan fixes the first. Optimise fixes the second and third. Deliver fixes the fourth.

How we work

The POD System.

Plan fixes the strategy gap. Optimise fixes the quality and production burden. Deliver fixes distribution. Three phases, one seamless partner.

It started because no studio like this existed.

In 2013, Marcus Bronzy, then presenting for BBC Radio 1Xtra and Capital, watched streaming services solve music and asked a simple question: if people get their perfect music fix from an algorithm, where do they go for personality and conversation? The answer was podcasts. He couldn't find a single London studio built for them, so he built one.

The room filled up fast. But nearly every client who hired it wanted more than a room. They wanted format advice, edit decisions, a growth plan. So we broke down exactly how we'd made our own shows work, wrote it into a repeatable method, and the POD System became the product. The studio is now just the middle third of it.

P

Plan

Every great show starts with one listener, imagined precisely. Most people listen alone, so we plan for one person, not an "audience segment". We define who they are, why they'd give you thirty minutes, what format earns it, and how the show sounds and looks.

Audience and positioning

Format and episode architecture

Identity and sonic branding

Content calendar and guest strategy

This phase is how a 2020 lockdown idea became Ain't Got A Clue, featured by Apple and Spotify at the same time.

O

Optimise

Sound quality is trust. Listeners forgive a rough opinion; they never forgive rough audio. Every episode gets broadcast-grade capture, 4K multi-cam, a professional edit and mix, platform-ready exports and social cut-downs.

D

Deliver

A finished episode on a server helps nobody. We publish everywhere, market the show, and report monthly: downloads, watch time, follower growth and what we're changing next.

Multi-platform publishing and RSS

Growth and acquisition

Monthly analytics with commentary

Sponsorship and monetisation support

Delivery discipline is why brand partners like O2 came back season after season.
